Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Sears chain saw parts, poulan clutch

Question
My question is similar to one you answered on Feb 14.  I have a Sears 2.3/18" chain saw model number 358357230.  This is circa 1991 model.  I need a clutch assemble which Sears no longer carries.  I also need the clutch sprocket drum which they do for twice the price of all of the Poulan sprockets that look similar.  I know that Poulan built this saw but I don't have a cross reference to pick the appropriate parts.  Can you help me?

Answer
If you go to,
http://www.grandjunctionsmallengines.com/pages/parts/viewbybrand/default.aspx

and under the quick part look-up, pick Poulan/Weedeater from the dropdown and then enter 530069193 in the "search for" box and your clutch should be listed.  Use the "View" column to see the full diagram.

The clutch itself is no longer available from Poulan.  The bell, or drum, I have for $10.92 and there are plenty of those available and most any Poulan dealer would be able to supply that.

However, the clutch should be available from one of the obsolete parts houses.  My favorite source when I need something for older chainsaws is Acres and the following link will take you there.

They have links to several parts houses that specialize in obsolete parts.  As many models of Poulan saws used that clutch, somebody should have a supply.  I'm rather surprised that Poulan isn't selling them anymore and that there isn't a superceded part number.  They must have just stopped selling them recently because they are still listed available through the parts list but the distributor no longer has them.

I also Googled the clutch part number and found several listings for it.  So if you try that you might find someone who has one.  I did query all three distributor's that I use for stock and none had it in stock or scheduled for re-order.  So if you do find one, you may want to try to get two.

I wish I could direct you right to a clutch, but this one will probably take a little calling around.  Let me know if you have any questions.  Thanks, PK.
