Tires: Lt vs P tires, series tires, flat tires

Question
Are LT tires more durable on off road conditions compared to P series tires?  I spend alot of time on dirt woods roads and a friend of mine has the same tires that I do only his are P series and mine are LT.  He keeps getting flat tires and I do not.  Can you please explain.

Answer
Travis,

First, getting a flat has nothing to do with durability.  Durability will manifest itself by the tire staying together, where a flat is more a function of how much resistance there is to penetration.

And, no, LT tires are not more inherently durable than P metric tires.

The difference you are perceiving could 100% be explained by a difference in driving style.  But I suspect the real difference is that LT tires tend to be thicker - and therefore more distance has to be penetrated before the air chamber is entered.
