Tires: 235/75 vs. 31x10.50, jeep cj5, new wheels

Question
Barry,  I have a Jeep CJ5 with 31x10.50R15LT tires that are shot. I am getting ready to donate a dodge dakota with LT235/75R15 tires that are in great shape.  The jeep is not on the road - it's a project jeep patiently awaiting my time.  I'd like to swap the good tires from the dakota for the worn out tires on the jeep before donating the dakota.  I know the 10.50 converts to 267, so there is a 32mm (1.25") difference.  When the jeep is rebuilt, it will receive all new wheels, so the tires will never see pavement except to move the jeep to a trailer, off again, and around the garage.  My only concern with the tire swap is the rim bead - will the 32mm make such a difference as to prevent proper beading?  Again, the jeep will never see the road with these tires, they will only be used to buy me time for the rebuild (one of the 31x10.50 has a leak and it's a pain to have to keep pumping it up every time I need to move the jeep, plus the deflation is playing havoc with the sidewall).  I think it's worth the $ for the swap - what is your opinion?

Answer
Dave,

An LT235/75R15 has an allowable rim width of 6" to 7".  A 31x10.50R15LT has an allowable rim width of 7".

So unless you are using 7" - it's a no except, that since you are just holding the vehicle up, a little bit off wouldn't make much difference.
