Tires: change tire size, goodyear assurance tripletred, suzuki grand vitara

Question
Hi, I have a 2004 Suzuki Grand Vitara. This vehicle has been crappy in the rain since I got it.  I thought it might be the factory tires, so I have asked other owners if they have the same problem and always get a yes answer, even with different regular all season tires (but no one had aqua tread tires).  Its weird, its like the water splashes UP (onto the hood and windshield) instead of OUT to the side.
This winter, I decided to get dedicated winter tires, but wanted them to be specifically for slush, which is mostly what we get around here, with the exception of some major snow falls.  After researching for weeks, I decided on Nokian Hakkapelitta RSi.  They were worth the price.  They handled the slush, snow and even ice, wonderfully.  I have not had the problems with them in the rain, either!
I decided to leave them on the rims for easier changing come spring, so I got rims to put new summer tires on.
Since the winter tires work well in rain, I want summer tires that will be good on wet roads.   I have settled on Goodyear Assurance, Tripletred tires.   The problem is that they do not come in my size, 235/60/16.   They do, however come in 225/60/16.  Will that size fit my 7" rims?  Thanks!  Ginny

Answer
Ginny,

You don't want to go down in size unless you compensate for it by using more inflation pressure.  Since you are having wet traction problems I'd suggest 5 psi more than the vehicle placard of 26:  31 psi.

And I would attach a note near the placard so the next person doesn't forget that this isn't the original tire size.

But it will fit on the rim.
