Tires: tire size, noticable difference, tire sizes

I am replacing the tires on my corvette. I currently have 255/50/16. It seems that these are some what hard to get, and were on back order at several places. One, suggested that I go to a 245/50/16,there wouldn't be any noticable difference, and I could get them on now. My problem is, at this time I am sitting with a flat tire. Should I wait or go with the 245's

The differences between tires can be greater than the differences between tire sizes of the same type.  

I would not suggest you go with a smaller size - less load capacity.  However, I don't find many options that will fit your situation.
