Tires: buying tires, life time warranty, bf goodrich

Question
I need to buy new tires for my '95 Chevy Blazer. I've narrowed it down to either a Big O tire brand with lifetime warranty for a high end price, or a BF Goodrich through a Wal-Mart (Sam's Club) for a low end price.  Is there a "you get what you pay for" mentality for the $150 savings? I currently have P235 70R15 on my vehicle, but Big O is P235 75R15. Does the size difference make a performance difference? (I checked 4 different tire stores, and 3 of them told me that it doesn't matter, and it's harder to find 70R15) Thank you

Answer
Hello, Kevin
The size differance is very slight. You should have plenty of room for the bigger tire in the 95 blazer wheel well. There will be about a 3.3% differance in the speedo. what that means is when your speedo reads 60MPH you are really going about 62MPH. I went to a bigger tire on my 2003 Silverado and had the dealer adjust for the differance in the computer. I'm not sure about a 95 Blazer. I have the BFG Long Trail on my wife's 2002 Trailblazer. They have about 30K on them now and still look OK. I'm planing on replacing them soon with the Michelin radial X LT from SamsClub. I had them put on my truck when it had only 1K. The Goodyears that came on it were junk no traction and road like a wagon. I could not believe the differance in the Michelin. Back to your question. BFG makes tires for several differant people. Big-O may be one of them I'm not sure. The life-time warranty is a crock most of the time. By the time the tire is pro-rated you could probly by a new one for not much more at Sam's. Yes you do get what you pay for in tires. BFG is a OK tire. You do know Michelin own's BFG and Uniroyl tire. They have come along way in the last few years. I like the the BFG looks but the Michelin tire can't be beat and it was only $15 bucks more than the same size BFG at Sam's. The 235/70R15 is getting harder to find because of all the 16 and 17 in tires they are using on SUV's now.

I hope this helps you out.
