Tires: Performance Tires, 1977 chrysler cordoba, chrysler cordoba

Question
I have a 1977 Chrysler Cordoba that I am modifying with 15" X 7" Cragar S/S mag wheels.  I am told that the BFGoodrich 245/60/15 raised white letter tire would be "perfect".  The only thing I'm concerned about is that tire seems so very big.  at this stage in the car's life I'm looking for a "good look" and it seems to me that something more like a 225 would be more appropriate, even a 70 profile.  In 1977, the car came with GR or HR 78 X 15 tires; today it has 215s on it.  What are your thoughts?

Thank you,

David

Answer
David,

I am not exactly sure what your question is.

But I gather it starts with the P245/60R15 being fairly wide.

A P215/70R15 is equivalent to a GRXX - 15.  So is a P225/65R15, and a P235/60R15.  So it does sound like the P245/60R15 is a good choice.

Are you concerned about the size of the tire rubbing?  That's a good question, and one I can't really help you with.  Unfortunately, there isn't a book where I can look up what the limiting factor in the fender well is for all the vehicles ever made.  But I suggest you find a web site or an on line club devoted to your vehicle and the question there.  I am sure someone has done this and can tell you about their experiences.

Hope this helps.
