Answer
You should shift at whatever speeds are most comfortable to you.

Once you get more familiar with your bike and your riding skills improve, you'll probably find it necessary to shift at higher speeds. The R6 shifts best when accelerating. You have lots of room to work with. If I owned an R6, I'd probably use something like this:

1st Gear 0-50 mph, shift at 25
2nd Gear 15-70 mph, shift at 40
3rd Gear 30-100 mph, shift at 50
4th Gear 45-120 mph, shift at 60
5th Gear 60-135 mph, shift at 70
6th Gear overdrive, shift at 55-75

It is okay to short shift whenever you need to in order to follow the speed limit, these are just general guidelines that I'd use--but I'm an expert rider and spend a lot of time at the track.

The R6 is a great bike, but is a little too much motorcycle for street use. They're way better on the track where you can open them up a little bit.

Hope that helps.
