Used Cars: Paying for a used car from a private party, camber angle, alignment shop

Question
So I bought a used 04 Subaru Impreza over the weekend. The car looked near mint condition exept that I noticed the camber on the rear drivers side wheel was slightly off. It looked almost like the car hit a curb but the rims had no markings but were painted black. So I asked the seller what happened to cause the wheel to be off alignment.
He said that when he got the rims painted and put back on the car they didn't tighten one of the bolts correctly causing the rear wheel to go out of alignment & that I just need to have the alignment done again and make sure to tighten the bolts correctly. So I paid him $9000 cash & gave him a post dated check for $500 dollars. Today I took the car to the alignment shop & they said somebody hit a curb sideways to cause the camber angle & that I need a new strut and "knuckle" which would cost me including parts & labor 6 or 7 hundred dollars & that the rear wheels are not adjustable so it could not get that camber angle from "not tightening the bolts correctly" only from hitting something like a curb sideways. So my question is since the private seller lied about the rear wheel & I paid him $9000 cash + a  post dated check for $500 can I cancel the $500 dollar check?

Answer
Hi Tony,

Personally I would call my bank to stop payment, if that for some reason becomes a problem I would make sure there were no funds in the account.

Call the seller to tell him he lied and you're not honoring payment of the balance, so not to bother trying to cash the check, hang up don't listen to a song and dance, let him make the next move, which likely will not happen.
