Used Cars: Purchased used car with falsified inspection sticker, purchasing a used vehicle, dept of trans

Question
We looked at, test drove, and put a deposit down on a truck, everything ran perfectly. It was a small business and the gentleman asked us to come back the next day to get it so he could get the inspection completed.  We went back the next day, paid the remaining amount and while driving home something didn't feel the same about the vehicle. We immediately took it to a shop and had them put a code reader on it and it failed.  They told us there was no way that it passed inspection that morning with the codes that came up.  We are going to have it reinspected at a state approved facility first thing tomorrow but, we would like to know what the Texas laws are regarding purchasing a used vehicle with what we believe is a falsified state inspection. Do we have the right to return the car and request all of our money back? (yes, it was an as is sale)

Answer
I would call the seller up and tell him to fix all the codes and make it right or that your going to report whom ever inspected the vehicle to the state and let them know you know who to go to or you want your money back.

As far as the bad inspection, You can go to txdot.com (TX Dept of Trans) and e-mail them your complaint. There is a code number on the inside part of the inspection sticker that you need as a reference, it let's the state know who did the inspection, This is a serious complaint, who ever did the inspection could very well lose their license.Let me know if you need more help
