Used Cars: Confused, bmw z3 1997, bmw z3

Hi There,

I am based in NZ and I am planning to buy a Sports car.
I have 2 in mind right now but confused which one is the right one.

1) BMW Z3- 1997/8 - Done 83000 Asking Price NZ$12000
2) TOYATA - MR-S Manual - 2000 Done 97000 Price NZ$10990.

I have driven both the cars they both seem fine. I am more inclined towards the BMW but i have been told its High maintenence vehicle while the Toyata isnt.

Any advice in this regard would be much appreciated.

Well....you are right in both counts.  They both are good cars, and would be just fine for what you are looking for.  The BMW's are quite a bit more to work on, but the flip side is they just dont really ever need much outside of routine maintenance.  And outside of normal maintenance and timing belts, the Toyotas are pretty low maintenance.  If you are looking for the most bang for the buck, I would give the Toyota the edge.  If you are looking to make a statement, the BMW would be the choice.  The BMW is a lot more solid built car vs. the Toyota, but in my opinion, you are paying more for the name vs. the toyota.
