Used Cars: Oasis report-warranty, new car warranties, new car warranty

Question
I recently bought a 2008 Mariner that was misrepresented as being a "dealer demo." It was actually sold by a different dealer to a rental company in a different state and auctioned two years later. The problem is that there is no record of maintenance of the vehicle and the Ford Motor Company Warranty Guide states on pages 2 and 3 that if the scheduled maintenance is not performed any failed part that is not maintained or inspected is void from the warranty. The 16,000 mile maintenance covers the engine, drive train, suspension etc. The car had 22,800 mile on it when I purchased it. At time of sale the car was represented as being under the new car warranties. Since the dealer cannot provide proof of maintenance I have requested from both the dealer and Ford a written statement to the effect that the warranty on the car is valid. Both have refused. Instead, the dealer sent me a copy of the Oasis Report claiming that it validates the warranty. Ford verbally said the same thing. The only problem is that Ford used ambiguous words like could, should, would. The only entry on the Oasis Report concerning the warranty is the start date in 2007. There is no repair history or maintenance history on the report. My question is, how could this report possibly validate the new car warranty? Is it used by Ford to validate warranties even when the history is there? Ford refusing to honor their new car warranty on a vehicle we paid $18,000 for blows me away.

Answer
Okay...let me walk you through a "Gray" area.  The reason ford puts that in the owners manual is to cover their butt, in the event something happens to the car, that was blatantly due to lack of maintenance and they deny a warranty claim, they are covered.  The OASIS report does not validate a warranty, it basically does not say warranty has been voided, so therefore the vehicle is still under warranty.  I understand your concern, but listen to what I am going to say, you have no need to worry.  You just do the maintenance like YOU are supposed to, and if something happens, I promise you, it will be taken care of under warranty, if it is something included in the warranty.  You are taking the fine print to seriously, and understandably, but you dont need to.
First off the car does not even have enough mileage to have any wear or tear(Mechanically speaking).  If any damage was done, you would have already known it, and there really isnt any major maintenance to be done at that mileage.  You just basically change your oil, until the transmission needs serviced.  All the other stuff they mention are generally covered doing your oil changes, if you do them at a good place, like a ford dealer.  I have done many years in the warranty/service side of Ford, and trust me, you are just fine, just do what you are supposed to do, and they will honor their warranty...trust me.  As for the dealer demo, not a big deal, a dealer can pretty much call anything a demo, it really has no bearing on anything that matters.  And if the OASIS report showed no history, that should actually give you piece of mind, because that basically states all that has been done to that vehicle under Fords Warranty or Recalls...if it has no history...that is a good thing.
