Used Cars: buying a lemon from a garage, chrysler cirrus, 1995 chrysler cirrus

Question
I recently purchased a 1995 Chrysler Cirrus from a garage.  I purchased it in June and was making monthly payments on it until I could take possession of it in December.  After 5 days and 1000km run it wouldn't start.  I had it towed back to the garage were it sat for 2 weeks while he supposedly was fixing it.  I picked it up again on December 30 and was told that a new starter was put in the car.  One week later it died again.  I called him and he said it was my fault because the car sat for too long.  After having a heated discussion I came to the conclusion that he was not willing to do anything about it.  Is there anything that I can do?  I've taken the car to another mechanic.

Answer
Hello Michele,

Well unfortunately there is are mechanics that are not honest out there ... in my experience 85 percent of them. You should do a little investigation to see if this mechanic has a license to sell vehicles, if he does you can report him to your provincial/state motor vehicle consul. You will need to show the other mechanics paper work backing you up that the one who sold it to you did knowingly sell you a lemon, being a mechanic and selling you the car can get him into a lot of trouble, also lets not forget the BBB. If you do decide to take these steps, try to let him know your plans to take it to the authorities maybe he will try to work it out with you before he gets into trouble!
