Used Cars: I need your help..., horror stories, carfax report

Question
I was interested in buying a used car.
But how will I know if its a good running car are not.
the cars may sound good,look good, drive smooth but still can have a problem. Please help me with this matter..

Well when buying a used car you can start by asking around, and getting some word of mouth referrals for certain places.  I would definetly prefer to purchase from some place that has been around a long time.  Secondly I would run a carfax report on a car once you have settled in on a couple of cars.  Third I would find a reputable mechanic to check the vehicle out for you before you purchase it.  The most important thing is be patient and check everything that you can.  For instance, after you have went out shopping and you have landed on a couple different cars, shoot me an email and let me give you an idea on how the cars are "IN GENERAL" as for their reputation and problem outlook.  I will gladly walk you through this but dont let some salesman pressure you into buying one until you have done all that I recommended.  Do not become one of these horror stories that I hear about, after the purchase has been finalized.  Just be patient.
