Question -
I am interested in buying a used 1994 bmw 325i. It is a black for door with 140 000 miles originally but the seller says she got a new engine for it then put 40 000 miles on it it has new brakes and new tires just wanted to know what u think about this deal and if i should go ahead thanks in advance

Answer -
This is a big case of need vs. want... but I cant tell you  anything about the deal if you don't give me a price (i am assuming you just forgot) so write back with what the asking price is and then we will talk.  I will go ahead and say, standard repairs and upkeep on a BMW is more expensive than say... a ford.. or honda... But yea just give me the price and i'll get back to you ASAP. Thanks.

Answer
I apologize for my delayed response, I have been a little busy lately.  Now as for the car, I do not recommend spending that money on a BMW unless you simply MUST own a Bimmer (Beamer is americanized and incorrect.. similar to how people pronounce porsche wrong here as well).. If money is tight, and you want a reliable, cheap to own vehicle you should focus more at used acura integra's, honda prelude's, civics, accords, and toyota camry's/corolla's... If gas isn't a huge factor the 89-98 mustang GT's and V6's are good cars (but not the same quality as you will find with previously mentioned cars)... You should be able to find a 94 civic with ~70,000 miles for around 4500 or maybe less... That is what I recommend trying.. With the BMW you are looking at ALOT of miles, on an expensive to repair car, that just spells disaster if money is tight.  Look to a lower end car with less mileage if your taste allows it, if you simply must have a higher end car, try non-european luxury brands first, (lexus, infinity, lincoln, cadillac), if you still aren't happy then go for a BMW or Mercedes, however I think even then you should be able to find a ~1994 with less miles for a similar amount... Shop around some more... I wouldn't want to spend more than 2500 on any car with 140,000 miles.. (minus a few select vehicles)... I stand by my original suggestion, oh and I just thought of another good vehicle... an early 90's nissan 240sx can be found in your price range as well, its not AS good as the honda's and toyota's but its still pretty reliable, and a decent looking car as well.  I say take a look at the cars I listed as alternatives, and if you MUST go with a higher end car, shop around some more, even with the new engine - 140,000 on the body of a luxury car means everything else will go wrong
