Trucking: MC Numbers, dot numbers, mc number

Question
Can 1 person have multiple mc numbers along with dot numbers and fein.

I'm President of 1 company have dot, mc # and a fein, I also have a dot number and a fein for this other company and am applying for a mc number for that.

I don't want to get into trouble by owning 2 companies

Leroy, I don't know of any restrictions on common control of multiple carriers as long as each is operated as a separate entity.  Keep a separate set of books for each and make sure all reporting and accounting follows the company lines.  Many of the large holding companies have separate companies targeting different markets.  I worked for a family that had 4 separate motor carriers and no problem.
