Trucking: leasing a diesel to my company, american trucking association, trucking company

I have a small trucking company and a friend who is a owner-operator would like to "lease" his diesel to my company. He would still continue to drive his diesel, but operate under my MC and DoT for a fee.  How do you go about doing that? Can he keep his own insurance and use my authority and DOT? What do i need to do to make this 100% legitimate?

I would contact DOT and talk to one of their experts about this.  I don't want to give you inaccurate information.  They are the experts, or you can contact the American Trucking Association as well for assistance!  Both are located in Washington, DC.  Good luck to you!
