Trucking: how to secure contracts, ltl carrier, trucking companies

Jim, I have a 26' box truck and need direction on how to secure a contract? Should I go through a broker or contact company's that use owner operators? I have this truck and the payment but i don't have a clue!

Ken, I assume you have your CDL.  I think you have more steady work if you contract as an owner operator.  You could do local P&D work for an LTL carrier, or run expedited freight if you have a sleeper.  Start by contacting all of the trucking companies in your area and chances are that someone will either have work or refer you to someone who does.  Best of luck.  Jim.
