Trucking: question on dot regs for hotshot truck, motor carrier regulations, federal motor carrier

Question
Hello,
I have a few questions for you. We have our own trucking company with our own DOT number. We are tagged to run in the state of Oklahoma only with out tractor/trailer. We are intrested in adding a hotshot vehicle to the fleet that we can run when the semi is not running. We will be goin to Colorado and Texas with the hotshot pickup ( a F250 3/4ton pickup and a 18ft trailer). Will we need to get a prorated tag and ifta stickers for that and I know we have to have the dot number on the vehicle. Also will the driver have to run a log like a OTR Driver. We will be doin hotshot for the oilfield undustry and if you run that way and need to run a log will that driver be able to do a 24hr restart on the logs. Any information that you could provide regaurding regulations would be wonderful
Thank you
Erika

Answer
Send me a follow up question and tell me what the GVWR is for the truck and the trailer. There should be a sticker located inside the driver's door on the truck. There should also be a data plate on the trailer that gives the GVWR. I'm thinking that this particular set up does not qualify as a commercial motor vehicle and would not fall under the Federal Motor Carrier Regulations, but I need to know the GVWRs of the truck and trailer.
