Truck Repair: Dodge Ram4X4 code 742 output speed sensor, vehicle speed sensor, gm tech

I am involved in My Boss's Kid's truck. I am a GM tech but we don't use that code so I have no idea how to diagnose the problem and don't have access to a service manual. Any and all help would be appreciated.

Hi Joe,
That could be the same as a VSS code.
Is the speedometer and cruise control working?
Just a loose connector or chafed wire there on the side of the transfer case where the Vehicle Speed Sensor is could do it.
Does he do some off roading?
