Truck Repair: How to remove stuck rear brake drum, s10 blazer, axle shaft

Question
Trying to remove and replace rear brake drum on
driver side of 93 S10 blazer and replace badly needed shoes. Problem is i chewed up the adjusting screw(starwheel trying to get drum off.
Now i can't turn adjusting screw and drum is stuck on. I don't have a torch or a grinding wheel to cut drum off. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Bill

Answer
Hi Bill,
I assume the parking brake is released?
A couple screwdrivers under the edge of the drum, against the backing plate. Apply a little pressure, and have someone tap the center of the axle shaft with a hammer.
Some penetrating fluid right there might also help.

If the shoes have ground deeply into the drum, you can just keep adding pressure with the prying, till those little nail like retainer pins break, and allow the shoes and drum to all come together.

If the center of the drum is sticking on the shoulder of the axle flange, you could remove the differential cover, and the retaining
"C" clips on the axle shafts, and remove even the axles with the drums, but usually the penetrating fluid, pressure, and hammer taps will get the drum off.
