Truck Repair: Chevy Truck, clutch master cylinder, chevy truck

Question
hello.. i read your profile and just thought i would ask if you knew anything about a 1997 chevy c1500 two wheel drive truck..its a standard with a 5.7 and i am havin trouble trying to take the fluid line off from the reservoir to the transmission.. any kind of advise would be a real help..thanks

Answer
Hello Blake,
I am quite familiar with that truck.
What you seem to be talking about is probably the reservoir for the clutch master cylinder. The line from there goes to a little cylinder on the flywheel housing, called a slave cylinder, which is what operates the release fork.
I have replaced several of those clutches, and a few slave cylinders, but I have never needed to remove that hose.
I am sure the bottom just unscrews, and I would assume the top does. Just regular threads.
Tubing wrenches are usually best, but even they sometimes slip and round the corners.
I have used vise grips on the tubing wrenches to keep them from spreading.
