Truck Repair: Tacoma Ping? Bad Fuel?, toyota tacoma 4x4, toyota tacoma

Question
I have a 2001 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 Trd Manual. Between 2500 Rpms And 3000 I Notice A Clicking/Pinging Noise As Well As When I Decellerate From 3000 Rpms. Someone Told Me This Could Be Because Im Running 87? Just Wondering What You Think?

Answer
Hi Chris,
Possible I guess, but pinging during during decelleration is not something I have seen.
I would tend to look for something like a stone between the muffler or catalytic converter and a heat shield. They can rattle terribly, and seem to be RPM controlled. Especially as the engine rocks due to torque.
Check the belt driven accessories as well.
