Truck Repair: 1976 chevy ignition, salvage yard, chevy truck

Question
I own a 76 chevy truck that I am atttempting to restore. After experiencing many problems with the column and key tumbler that refuse all attempts to be corrected I would like to wire a switch and push button to start the engine. I'm wondering what would be the easiest way to do this and still be able to run the lights, radio, etc... thanks

Answer
Hi Josh,
have you considered replacing the complete column from a salvage yard?

Older vehicles used a switch with a start position, ,ounted in the lower dash, like, say, a 1965.

Here are a couple links that might have something to offer in the way of help.

Good luck,
