Truck Repair: rough starting GMC Sierra, gmc sierra, turning the key

Question
I own a 2000 GMC Sierra, with 103,000 miles.  It has become very difficult to start the truck in the morning.  The problem only occurs first thing in the moring, the rest of the day there is no problem.  I have to crank the engine over for awhile until it starts and when it does start it sounds like it is going to die.  I have to give it gas for a few seconds and then it is fine.  Any idea what might be causing this?

Answer
Hi Matt,
Sounds like the fuel may be draining back out of the lines to the tank, and getting air in the system.
Running some injector cleaner through a couple tanks of gas should help.
Also, try just turning the key to run, (not start), a couple times before that first crank. Let it sit in the run position for about a second or two before turning off and then to run again. That will run the fuel pump, and pressure up the system, but the pump will only run for two seconds each time. That is the reason I say on, then off...to force it again. See if that helps.

The injector cleaner should clean a dirty injector tip that might be letting the air in, and may be all you need.
