Truck Repair: 98 Chevy blazer s-10 4.3L 4x4 4 door, fuel pressure regulator, throttle body injection

Question
Hi,
I have a 98 blzer and had a fuel line leak. After dropping the engine, I noticed a leak from a line that goes from around the fuel filter to the rear of the vehicle to a  sort of canister. Does this line carry fuel? Or could I possibly have the wrong line? The other lines go to the sending unit and looked very well, so i deduced that it must be this line. So I was going to use high pressure EFI hose to replace the bad part. Is it ok to use this with high pressure clamps on that line? Thank you.

Answer
Hello MJ,
I can't be sure of what line you are talking about.
There is a line from the pump in the tank, to the filter, and on up to the fuel rail.
Then, there is a line from the fuel pressure regulator, back to the tank, returning fuel.
A third line would be from the tank to the vapor recovery canister, and it shouldn't actually have fuel in it, but it could. A vacuum hose..actually a couple of them, run from that canister to the engine, and on to the intake system.
The only line that should have any real pressure on it is the one from the pump to the filter, and fuel rail.
Depending on the type of injection system you have, it will have either 15PSI, if it is throttle body injection, or about 45 PSI if the truck has MPFI.
