Truck Repair: 1989 Dodge b150/ 1/2 ton Van /auto/V-8/318, van auto, slow speed

The Van runs good, the problem is in the acceleration of the van / when the van is put into gear the van / you can press the gas and the van will not move till it like builds up pressure. then the van is limited to a slow speed even if you floor the gas pedel.there is a fairly new transmission,starter,and a new battery. Please help me... Thank Again

Once the engine is running, the starter and battery are irrelevent.
Sounds like your transmission has a problem.
Hopefully, it is just the fluid level. But if you have operated it like that for too long, the clutch will be ruined.
Check it, and smell it. It should not look or smell like it is burnt.
