QUESTION: I was hoping you could assist me in identifying this car. I believe the photo was taken between 1920-1934 in Philadelphia, PA.

ANSWER: Marianne,

Sorry, but I don't think I can be a lot of help.

I can tell you this isn't a Ford. It's generally like a Model T Touring car of the 20's, but it's obviously a nicer car. I really doubt this is 30's car, as they tended to have steel spoked wheels (not wood) and they had bumpers. The front fenders of your car look to be made of 2 pieces, like a Model T. Later cars (30's) had fenders made in one piece. So, I'd put the year of this car in the mid 20's

While the picture doesn't show all the license plate, I can tell you the plate isn't from Pennsylvania. Here's web site that shows PA plates of the era:

One way to try and find your answer is to browse the cars for sale on the web. Probably one of the best sites for this is Hemmings. Here's a link to a 1920 Hudson, which is close, but no cigar.

If you search the cars for sale (with pictures) by year, you may have some luck.

Let me know if you find your answer

QUESTION: Actually GP, if you look at the Pennsylvania license plates from the 1920's, this one looks very similar to the one for 1922. Here's the link: http://www.worldlicenceplates.com/jpglps/USA_PA_GI2_1920%27s.jpg.

I'll keep looking. Thanks for you help GP!

Answer
Marianne,

I'm reading the numbers that are visible as 775, with the middle 7 being a different script. I'm guess you read it 715, with the top of my 7 being something else. You're probably right - - I don't have a way to clear up the picture - - if you could get to the insignia on the radiator, you'll find out a lot.
