Vintage Cars: 1929 Hupp, pivot pins, hupp

Question
Need to remove windshield (and frame) and sun screen on a 29 Hupp
4 dr sedan.  Has a crank out windshield.  Have removed the handle
and 4 bolts holding crank assy to top frame.  Can't see how it is
still being held firmly on the car.  Also, removed the plates on
each side near the top, exposing the plate holder and about 1/2"
of a spring.  Have tried compressing the spring so see if a pin will be released, but no go.  Hopefully, you can give me some guidance on this.  whatever help you can give will be appreciated.

Answer
Russ, I had to check with my Hupp Century guy to get the answer on this - here is his reply.

This one is a common question.  They are on the right track in working with the spring.  The pivot pins on which the springs push have a hole drilled through their diameter into which a suitable bar may be placed in order to proved the necessary "grip" to move the pivot pins inboard until they clear their sockets.  That should do the trick.

Hopefully, this will answer your question.

Could you contact me @ rboberjr@yahoo.com with more information about the car? I'd very much appreciate it.
