What year did they start and stop the Chevrolet Corvair? who stopped production and why?

Answer
The last Corvair was produced in 1969. I believe that it still exists in a collection somewhere.

The "powers that be" at GM Corporate dropped the Corvair for several reasons, the primary one being dramatically declining sales since the publishing of Ralph Nader's book "Unsafe at Any Speed" which pointed out many of the design flaws in the 1960-1961 Corvair (all of which had been rectified by the time the book was published). Also, because most of the Corvair's components were unique to the car, it was an expensive vehicle to produce, and the declining sales volume made it unprofitable.
