Vintage Cars: 1976 VW convertable bug karmann edition, coach builder, karmann ghia

Hello, we just bought this car, it is a Karmann edition VW bug.  I have looked around the internet and cannot find any information that makes this a Karmann Edition.  Is it the engine and why, top, etc.  Please advise on how to find out what the Karmann Edition means.  Thanks, Mike

Bug cabriolets (convertibles) had bodies made by Karmann coach works. The same coach builder that made bodies for the Karmann Ghia.  This means that EVERY Bug Cabriolet from 1949 to 1979 has a body by Karmann.  They all have a Karmann tag on the side of the car .  That said, yours may have options that others do not have , but that is no t what makes it a Karmann.
