Vintage Cars: 83 500SL radio, little fuse, fuse block

Question
QUESTION: I have a Grand Prix radio that I know is good.  I am not getting power to the antenna or the radio.  I have checked fuses on #1, #12 and #13 and they appear to be ok.  I have checked connections and fuse on the rear of the radio and all seems ok.  Any ideas?

ANSWER: The radio on powers the antenna circuit so you have an issue with power or the radio on/off switch
I have a few suggestions.  Hopefully you have a volt meter and continuity tester.
Check for 12 V before and after the appropriate fuse.  Dont assume you are getting 12 V just because the fuses look good ( experience haha) Check the continuity of the little fuse in the back of the radio
Then pull the radio and do the same and then make sure you are gorunded.  Without a good ground nothing in the old MB's works the way it should. BTW - brown is ground in MB's
Also what were you doing prior to failure, always retrace your steps looking for the solution
My guess - either no 12 volt at the fuse block or bad ground
Let me know what you find
Electrical gremilins can be tricky, but the radio connections are pretty straight forward, so we can figure this out.

QUESTION: I checked the fuse in the back of the radio. OK.  I changed the three fuses that have anything to do with the radio. No luck.  The radio was working perfectly when I put the car in storage for 6 months.  I jumped the car when I returned and the radio was kaput.  any ideas would be appreciated and I do not have a meter unfortunately.  Thanks, Ed

Answer
it is possible you toasted the radio electronics  when you jumped the car.  That is an issue when you jump a car, especially if you did not ground the jumpers correctly.  Many folks just hook them direct ...
In any respect, you really must get a meter or borrow one, you first have to determine if you have 12V to the back of the radio and go from there.
Meters are cheap, I got one at toolwharehouse for 3.99
Let me know what you find

BTW ground is brown, ignition power is black, constant power is red and illumination is grey

You did not by chance disconnect the fader?? If you have one try moving it back and forth or spray some electrical contact cleaner in it
