Vintage Cars: 230 cable, emrmc, transmission shaft

Question
QUESTION: Hi Ron,

I've made a boo boo.
I was cleaning the dashboard and replacing all the bulbs
and broke the little cable for the shifter. It's a cable
when you put the shifter to D or R or N to show you where
you are.
Where can I find this cable and how do I replace it?
Also what is that green button that you pull next to the
cigarette lighter, it doesn't seem to be doing anything?
Thank you.

ANSWER: do you mean the one to the tranny, if so you will need to follow line through transmission shaft to the neutral safety sitch and replace.  Posisiton of the NSS is critical so use your back up lights to show you when you are in reverse and attach line then.  If you mean the cable in the steering column , then you may have to take the steering wheel off and see if you can access it.  I have not had that happen so I will have to look into it.
For parts I would suggest my buddy Rusty (800) 741-5252  at  www.mbz.org
The light you speak of is either an AC indicator or the rear fogs.  If you dont have rear fogs it will not operate.  If you do the little bulb may be burned out
Good Luck

QUESTION: thank you
what is that light on the right of the cigarette tray?  you
pull it back and the light inside is white but nothing
happens?

Answer
well the only things that I know of that light on the dash are rear window defogger,  4 way flashers and AC . Most likely the rear window defog light/pull , that is unless it is an add on
