Vintage Cars: Value of 1955 Chevy Bel Air, chevy bel air, restorable car

Question
I have been given a 1955 Chevy Bel Air and am wondering what the car is worth.  This car has a Big Block 427 engine that has been blueprinted.  It has been garaged so has no rust.  It should be in good running condition but will need work on the interior even though it will come with brand new carpet and the original (cloth) seats still in plastic.  I would say that it is a restorable car that runs.

Answer
What body style makes a big differnce

Roughly, if it is a 4 dr sedan, it is worth about $4000 to $9000 from #4 to #3 Condition.

For 2 dr sedan same conditions: $4500 $9000

2dr ht$8000 to $15,000
4 dr wagon $5000 to $9000

This is for a stock car with V8 engine, complete with #4 being a driveable vehicle that needs a complete restoration or a very poor older amateur restoration.

#3 is a complete operational vehicle, a good original showing some wear, or an older restoration in good shape but showing some wear.  #3 is what most people think is a #1 car, but it isn't.

What you describe is would put at #4 or maybe #5 with the big block really not adding to the value.

A modified car is worth that someone will pay for it but it has to suit the new buyer.  Pure stock cars get the most money these days unless someone does a VERY good job and finds a buyer that has the exact same taste in mods.
