Vintage Cars: Vehicle history search., vehicle history search, investment standpoint

Question
You have probably been asked this but I am trying to find the history of a '66 GTO I just purchased. Is there a service I can contact or do it myself? The previous owner said the car came from Arizona but thats all. I would like to find its origin, first owner, etc.

Thanks, Dave

Answer
The vintage (some say REAL) Pontiac GTO of 1964-1973 has great club support, and that's where you're going to find the help that you need.  I can't list all of them here, but I'd start with this:

www.hemmings.com/clubs

They allow you to search car clubs by make and model, and you'll have more clubs to pick from than you'll know what to do with!  Take good care of that "goat-" mid-60's Pontiacs are among the best-looking cars to ever come out of Detroit, and I've always thought the '66-'67 Tempest/Lemans/GTO to be the very best.  From an investment standpoint, DEFINITELY a "blue-chip" collector car.
