Texas Trucking Accident Injuries and Deaths

Traffic accidents involving trucks are among the most deadly of all highway accidents, especially when they involve large commercial trucks and smaller passenger vehicles.
Any truck accident is potentially lethal due to the immense size and weight of such a vehicle, especially when it is traveling at highway speeds.

In August of this year, a 59 year-old truck driver lost his life in Grand Prairie, Texas when his 18-wheeler smashed into and through a guardrail on Interstate 30. After crashing through the guardrail, the truck fell over onto the President George Bush Turnpike. Before it fell, the truck was seen to have only narrowly missed hitting the occupants of smaller cars traveling on the same road, many of whom slammed on their brakes to avoid being struck. It is unknown why the truck driver lost control of his vehicle.

In a truck accident occurring in Lorena, Texas on September 17, a school bus and a dump truck collided head-on. In that accident, 17 students and school staff were injured. The accident occurred on an access road of Interstate 35. The female bus driver had to be extricated from the bus after which she was hospitalized. The dump truck driver was unhurt. The cause of the accident is unknown.

In another truck accident on September 30 in Seagraves, Texas, five people died when a GMC truck struck the back of a Dodge pickup truck on a road 60 miles southeast of Lubbock, Texas. Both trucks rolled over and landed in a ditch. Investigators believe alcohol may have played a part in the accident.

Trucking accidents are often complicated legal matters due to the fact that many entities may be involved, such as the truck driver, the trucking company, those who loaded the cargo, and truck manufacturers as well as the manufacturers of component parts. Any of these entities may be held accountable in a truck accident for negligence. Trucking companies are subject to both state and federal regulations. If in violation of these regulations, negligence may be an underlying issue.

If you have been involved in any type of truck accident, whether it involved a commercial or private vehicle, you should immediately contact an experienced personal injury attorney.
