A 1995 Honda Civic equipped with a manual transmission uses a clutch to help shift through gears. The clutch has a clutch fluid reservoir that provide fluid for the hydraulically operated system. Over time, the system can leak or lose clutch fluid; it will need to be replaced so the car can shift properly. To find out if you need to add clutch fluid, you need to check the clutch master cylinder.
Open the hood and support it with the hood prop. Locate the clutch master cylinder on the driver's side firewall, to the right of the brake master cylinder.
Shine the flashlight on the clutch master cylinder and locate the raised lettering reading "Min" and "Max." Look to see where the clutch fluid is sitting in the reservoir.
Remove the clutch master cylinder cap and add clutch fluid to the reservoir if the clutch fluid is below the "Min" mark. Fill the reservoir until it is midway between the "Min" and "Max" marks on the reservoir.
