The 5-in-1 Power Pack by Chicago Electric is a portable battery system. It gets its name from the fact that it can jump-start car batteries and provide remote DC and AC power; it also has a built-in air compressor and a map light. To do any of those things, however, the Power Pack needs to be kept fully charged. It may be charged either from AC house current or DC vehicle current.
Check the current charge of the Power Pack by pressing and holding the red "Battery Status" button on the front of the unit and reading the charge dial just to the right of it. Any reading of 12 volts or less indicates the Power Pack needs to be charged.
Set the "Jump-Start Power Switch" on the rear of the Power Pack to the off position.
Charge the Power Pack from an AC power source by plugging the AC adapter into a wall outlet and then plugging the other end of the adapter into the charging jack, which is under the small black cover on the front. The red "Charging" light will come on. Charge until the DC charge dial reads 15 volts. Then unplug the adapter from the Power Pack and then from the wall.
Charge the Power Pack from a DC source by plugging the large plug on the DC adapter into a DC outlet, then plugging the other end of the adapter into charging jack the Power Pack. Start the vehicle's engine if necessary to energize the DC outlet. The red "Charging" light will come on. Charge the Power Pack until the charge dial reads 15 volts. Then unplug the adapter from the Power Pack and the DC outlet and turn the engine off.
