The Ford F-150 was introduced in 1975, and it eventually replaced the F-100. The 2004 Ford F-150 was available in 47 different trim packages. The 2004 F-150's 5.4-liter, 300-horsepower V-8 was an optional engine upgrade from the base model's 4.6-liter V-8. PCV in automotive terms stands for "positive crankcase ventilation." The PCV valve opens and closes to regulate the pressure and remove extra pressure from the engine's oil system. Replacing the PCV can be accomplished in a matter of minutes, depending on your mechanical aptitude.
Open the hood of the F-150 and position yourself over the right side (as viewed when sitting in the vehicle) of the engine.
Remove the PCV valve from the right-side valve cover, by hand. Separate the PCV valve from the PCV valve tubing, by hand.
Insert a new PCV valve into the valve tubing. Install the new PCV valve into the right-side valve cover.
