How to Replace a Turn Signal on a 1993 Chevy Truck

In 1993, Chevrolet released several trucks including the C- and K-series of full-size trucks and the S-10 compact truck. Each of these trucks, no matter their size, engine configuration or number of drive wheels, employed a series of exterior lights for use in notifying others of the driver's intent to alter course. The turn signal lamps, located on each corner of the truck just above the bumpers, house bulbs that blink on and off on the side of the intended turn when the driver flips the turn signal switch in that direction.

Things You'll Need

  • Phillips screwdriver (magnetic)
  • 2357NA bulb
  • 3057 bulb

Front Turn Signals

  • Shut the truck off and remove the keys from the ignition. Engage the parking brake.

  • Remove the screws from the turn signal housing using a Phillips screwdriver.

  • Pull the turn signal housing away from the Chevy truck. Squeeze the retaining tab on the socket. Rotate the turn signal socket a quarter turn counterclockwise and then pull it out of the socket.

  • Push the bulb down into the socket gently, turn it counterclockwise and then pull it out of the socket. Insert the 2357NA replacement bulb and turn it clockwise until it locks into the socket.

  • Insert the socket into the back of the turn signal housing. Rotate the socket clockwise to lock it into the turn signal housing.

  • Hold the turn signal housing back in place and thread the retaining screws in by hand. Tighten the screws with the Phillips screwdriver.

Rear Turn Signals

  • Open the tail gate. Remove the two black, plastic plugs located in the rear hatch frame, on the side of the turn signal housing to expose the turn signal mounting screws.

  • Remove the two turn signal mounting screws with the Phillips screwdriver. Ensure the screwdriver is magnetic before removing these screws to prevent them from falling down into the truck body during removal.

  • Pull the turn signal housing from the truck body. Depress the socket retaining clip and turn the socket counterclockwise a quarter turn. Pull the socket out of the turn signal housing.

  • Pull the burned out bulb out of the socket. Insert the 3057 replacement bulb. Insert the socket into the turn signal housing. Hold the turn signal housing in place.

  • Reinstall the turn signal mounting screws with the Phillips screwdriver. Put the black plastic caps back into the holes. Shut the tail gate.
