The daytime driving lights, also referred to as daytime running lights (DRL), on your Subaru give the vehicle increased visibility when on the road during the day. Although they are an added safety feature, they are not legally required in the United States and since they waste energy, many people choose to disable them. Disabling your DRL is a simple process that involves removing the DRL module from the vehicle. The module is located behind the glove box and can be removed in about fifteen minutes.
Open your Subaru's hood and disconnect the negative terminal cable from the battery using a socket wrench, .
Open the glove box and remove the four screws securing it to the dash using a Phillips-head screwdriver.
Pull the glove box off of the dash. Locate the DRL module to the far right, having the white and yellow connector. Unplug it and remove it from the vehicle.
Reattach the glove box and its screws. Reconnect the negative terminal cable to the battery and close the hood.
