The Chrysler Voyager is a minivan that features a 3.3-liter, V6 engine, automatic transmission and a rear liftgate door. You may experience occasional problems with the van that require basic troubleshooting. Basic troubleshooting can help save you the cost paying your mechanic to perform a simple task that is easily taken care of at home.
Check your fuel level if your Voyager makes a cranking noise when you turn the key, but it will not start. If your fuel levels are low, add fuel and attempt to start your car again.
Check your transmission fluid levels if you hear a ticking noise when driving your Chrysler Voyager. Raise the hood and locate the transmission fluid dipstick near the back of the engine. Remove the dipstick and wipe it clean with a paper towel. Place the dipstick all the way back in the hole. Remove the dipstick again and check for the level of fluid on the stick. If the transmission fluid level is at or below the "Low" mark on the dipstick, place a funnel in the dipstick hole and pour in transmission fluid. Replace the dipstick and lower the hood.
Check the power steering levels in your Voyager if you hear a whirring noise coming from your engine while driving. Raise the hood and locate the power steering reservoir on the left side of the van. If the fluid level does not reach the indicated line, clean the area around the reservoir cap and remove it. Pour the power steering fluid in the reservoir until you reach the full line.
Check your brake fluid if your brake pedal goes all the way to the floor when you press it. Raise the hood and locate the brake fluid reservoir near the back of the engine on the driver's side. Clean the area around the reservoir cap and open it. Check the fluid level and add brake fluid if needed. Use a funnel to add the fluid to avoid spills. Replace the reservoir cap and lower the hood.
Replace blown fuses if you experience any electrical problems with the Voyager. Electrical problems can include headlights, a horn or power locks that are not working. Remove the fuse box cover from the Voyager's dashboard. The cover features a map showing the position of each fuse. Locate the fuse for the electrical component that is not working. Remove the fuse and inspect it. If the metal link that is visible inside the fuse is separated, the fuse is blown. The link is located between the two prongs on both sides of the fuse. Replace the fuse with one that has the same numerical rating. Replace the fuse box cover.
