How to Remove a Starter on a 2001 Polaris Trailblazer 250

The Polaris Trailblazer 250 is a four-wheel beginners all-terrain vehicle. The Polaris uses a push-button type of starter and ignition system. From time to time the starter on your Polaris can go bad, in which case it will have to be replaced. Removing the starter is a fairly easy process, but you will have to do some navigating to access it. It is located between the engine and the transmission, and will take about 45 minutes to remove.

Things You'll Need

  • Socket set
  • Screwdriver
  • Take off the left foot well with your screwdriver.

  • Use the socket wrench to remove the bolts that hold the clutch in place. Once these bolts are removed the clutch will slide straight off your Polaris. This will give you access to the starter, which is located right between the transmission and the engine.

  • Remove the two mounting bolts holding the starter in place and use a screwdriver to remove the starter's positive cable. Slide the starter out.
