How to Remove the Door Panels On a 2002 Toyota Highlander

The removal of a door panel in your 2002 Toyota Highlander involves the use of common hand tools. Most will be in your toolbox but you may need to purchase one, a panel tool. Once you have removed the panel, you can access the interior of the door so that you can remove and replace speakers or fix a power window or door lock.

Things You'll Need

  • Panel tool
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Pry out the triangular sail panel that's at the front edge of the door panel with the tip of the panel tool. You won't have to do this step on the back door panels.

  • Press in on the center of a round retaining clip just below the sail panel's location, then pry out the clip with a panel tool.

  • Remove a Phillips screw from the back side of the door-release trim. Pull out the trim piece.

  • Pry out the door pull cup with a panel tool and remove the Phillips screw from underneath.

  • Pry around the bottom and side of the door panels and lift off the door panel.
