How to Take Apart the Center Console in a 2008 Chevy Impala

The 2008 Chevy Impala is equipped with a center console that contains two cup holders and a storage bin. The cup holders lift out, revealing bolts that you will need to remove to take apart the console and remove the storage bin. Taking the Impala's console apart is fairly straightforward. The job should take you no more than 10 minutes to complete, requiring a few basic tools that you likely already have.

Things You'll Need

  • Socket wrench
  • Slotted screwdriver
  • Remove the cup holders from the center console by lifting them up. This will reveal two 10 mm bolts.

  • Remove the two bolts with a socket wrench.

  • Remove the single bolt at the bottom of the rear of the center console with a socket wrench.

  • Pull the center console out of the Impala by lifting it up and out of the vehicle.

  • Remove the center storage bin by pulling it out.

  • Pry apart the upper and lower parts of the center console, using a slotted screwdriver.
