The water pump in your 1995 Toyota Camry is used to move coolant from the radiator to the engine. This helps prevent the engine from overheating. If your pump becomes damaged, it can cause serious problems to your engine as it will no longer be able to cool the engine to the standard required. When this occurs, replace your water pump. You can pick up a water pump from your local auto parts store.
Turn off the engine, and leave it to cool. Open the hood, and use a wrench to remove the clamp bolts from the battery terminals. Lift both the positive and negative cables from their respective terminals.
Place a drain pan underneath the radiator drain plug. Once the pan is in place, remove the drain plug from the radiator. Drain the coolant from the radiator in to the pan. Once the radiator has been emptied, reattach the plug and put the drain pan in a safe area.
Use a wrench to loosen the bolt that attaches the clamp to the lower radiator hose. Remove the clamp from the radiator hose. Disconnect the hose from the water pump. Locate the injection pump pulley. Remove the bolts from the pulley, and lift it from the vehicle.
Locate the water pump, and use the nut driver to remove the seven mounting bolts. Remove the two injection pump holding nuts. Remove the water pump and its gasket from the vehicle.
Fix the new water pump gasket to the water pump. Place the water pump in the same position from which you removed the old one. Fix the water pump in place by attaching the mounting bolts. Reinstall the injection pump pulley by attaching it to the engine with the mounting bolts. Attach the lower radiator hose to the new water pump. Place the clamp around the hose, and tighten the bolt to fix the clamp in place.
Open the radiator cap, and pour coolant back into the radiator. Close the radiator cap. Reattach the battery cables to their respective battery terminals, and fix them in place by tightening the bolts against them. Turn on the engine to check that the water pump now works correctly.
