How to Change the Starter on a 1992 Lexus SC400

The starter on a 1992 Lexus SC400 is located below the manifold assembly near the firewall. It is a tight place to work in, but it can be accomplished from the top of the vehicle as well as below. The starter has a dull metal finish and has a black solenoid attached to the side. When replacing the starter recycle the core at your local auto parts store or dealership. Never throw away a starter in the garbage.

Things You'll Need

  • Socket wrench set
  • Torque wrench
