How to Remove the Running Board Light Fuse on a Ford Expedition

The running boards on your Ford Expedition may be equipped with lights that enhance the vehicle's visibility. If the fuse for the running board lights blows out, it will have to be removed and replaced. The fuse is in the fuse block in the engine compartment. Removing the fuse requires a fuse extractor and a socket wrench. The removal process takes only a few minutes.

Things You'll Need

  • Socket wrench
  • Fuse extractor
  • Turn off the engine of the Expedition. Open the hood.

  • Disconnect the battery's negative terminal with a wrench.

  • Remove the cover from the fuse box, which is directly behind the battery.

  • Remove the fuse extractor from the underside of the fuse box cover. Use the fuse extractor to remove the fuse numbered "9." Replace the blown fuse with a fuse of the same amperage.

  • Place the cover back onto the fuse box. Reattach the battery's negative terminal and close the hood.
