How to Remove the Backseat of a Chevy

There are plenty of reason why you might need to pull a rear seat out of a Chevy: Maybe the backseat needs to be replaced because of damage or stains that can't be cleaned. Maybe you need the space to transport items for delivery, or for other business purposes. Whatever the reason, a Chevrolet backseat comes out easily once you know the dismantling procedure.

Things You'll Need

  • Adjustable wrench
  • Loosen the two bolts on the lower front of the backseat bottom, using an adjustable wrench, if applicable. Some Chevy seats have seat bottoms that are not secured with bolts.

  • Pull the seat bottom toward the front of the car until it is free of the seat back. Loosened seat bottoms should come out through the back doors of Chevrolet cars after you flip them 1/4-way forward.

  • Reach your hand between the seat bottom and the seat back of a Chevy backseat that does not use bolts to secure the bottom, and grab the pull strap for removing the seat. Pull up on the strap to get the back of the seat bottom away from the seat back, then pull the seat bottom forward and away from the seat back.

  • Loosen the bolts holding the seat back onto the Chevrolet car near the floor. Pull the seat back upward to unhook it, then pull it forward and out of the car.
