How to Drain the Oil on a Chrysler 300m

Oil provides lubrication and cooling for the interior components in a vehicle's motor. After time and extended usage, oil becomes contaminated with worn particles from the engine's interior and becomes less effective at lubricating and cooling. It is important to know how to drain your 300m's oil so you can easily replace it with fresh, clean oil. The job requires a few basic tools and 15 to 30 minutes of your time.

Things You'll Need

  • Car ramps
  • 12mm socket wrench
  • Oil collection bin or bucket
  • Go for a short drive in your vehicle to warm the engine. This will cause the oil to thin, letting it run out much easier.

  • Pull your Chrysler 300m up on the car ramps and place it in park. Be sure to lock the emergency brake to prevent sliding or rolling.

  • Climb under the vehicle and locate the oil drain plug on the back of the oil pan.

  • Slide an oil collection bin or bucket underneath the drain plug to collect the used motor oil.

  • Remove the oil drain plug using a 12mm socket wrench. Let the oil drain into the collection bin for 5 to 10 minutes. It should drain until the flow has completely stopped.

  • Replace the oil drain plug using the 12mm socket wrench.
